Review of Sony Ericsson W980i Walkman Phone

The good news for who looking to upgrade to a better music phone. Sony Ericsson recently announced its W980i Walkman phone.

The sexy clamshell phone is billed as the perfect device for music enthusiasts with dedicated music control buttons on the front flip panel as well as a smaller LCD screen that displays song information.

The W980i also has the company’s shake control feature that allows you to shake the phone to change songs.

With 8GB of internal memory, music lovers will have lots of space to store their favourite tunes.

The phone also features HSDPA high-speed Internet connectivity for web surfing and video conferencing. Also, the phone comes with a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording.

SE said that the W908i will be available in the third quarter this year.

Review of Sony Ericsson K660i

Review of Sony Ericsson K660i

The new K660i is a compact quad-band phone reminiscent of earlier K6-series phones from Sony Ericsson. Despite its diminutive size and simplistic design, it is however a proper 3G phone with HSDPA and video calling. The quad-band radio supports practically any GSM network in the world, while HSDPA offers high-speed Internet connectivity. To make best use of the HSDPA feature, the K660i features a fancy web browser that can be rotated to landscape mode. To navigate the web, the K660i has cursor navigation, letting you move a mouse cursor around just like you would on a PC or laptop.

Moving back to the design, the K660i has a bright 262K color LCD display with a resolution of 240×320. The main keypad consists of small round buttons similar to the K810i; a design that is often questioned lately. The last column of buttons, however, light up and perform shortcuts such as screen rotation. Navigation keys consist of a 4-way rocker with a single OK button in the middle. The familiar call, option, cancel and softkey buttons are all arranged neatly on either side of the navigation keys.

The phones features stereo Bluetooth, a media player, FM radio and an RSS feed reader. The camera on the back is a simple 2-megapixel pinhole unit with fixed focus, while a VGA camera sits on the front for video calls. A welcome feature on the K660i is the USB storage capability. Using the included USB cable, you can plugin the phone to a standard USB port and access the phone or card memory like any USB storage. The phone itself has 32MB of memory, which can be expanded with up to 4GB of M2 memory cards thanks to an M2 slot in the side.

Although the K660i is not as feature-laden as its higher-end brethren, it serves its purpose very well with a compact and simple design. Yet, it still offers a few goodies such as the HSDPA, USB storage and enhanced web-browsing.
